ABOUT THOMAS FORRESTALL

Thomas DeVany Forrestall (Canadian, 1936-2024) was a Nova Scotia-based realist painter working primarily in egg tempera and watercolour.

Forrestall was born in Middleton, NS. He studied with artists Alex Colville and Lauren Harris at Mount Allison University, and worked later as the assistant curator at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, Fredericton, NB. Forrestall has had major exhibitions at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, the Confederation Centre Art Gallery, Charlottetown, PE, and the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Kleinburg, ON.

Forrestall's works are held in many Canadian and international galleries and collections, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, and the Art Gallery of Ontario.
